Fonts In Use

Researching Fonts

Many films use fonts in order to convey what the film is about or the pacing, atmosphere and or tone of the film. Fonts are so significant to films as a font can be used to show if a film is fast, slow and or sad or happy. A font can also be used as an advertising factor to a film, as a wild font can attract people to watch a film. For example...:

Hidden Figures
The typeface used is called 'Athelas.' It is plain and simple and nice to look at.The old-style font reflects all the historic themes within the film. Below I have inserted a few examples of when this font is used in the opening titles as well as the end credits.

The X Files

The X-Files is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by Chris Carter. The programme originally aired from September 10, 1993  to May 19, 2002 on Fox, spanning nine seasons and 202 episodes. The title sequence won the show its first Emmy Award, which was for Outstanding Graphic Design and Title Sequences. The main title and logo used Industria with an FF Trixie ‘X’ in the background.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American television series which ran 1997–2003. Margo Chase created the “Buffy” lettering, which was paired with Herculanum in the opening titles(designed by Thomas Cobb and George Montgomery), while the main promotional logo used Chase’s own typeface, Kruella.
